SACRAMENTO – Today, Senate Republican Leader Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) joined members of the Senate Republican Caucus to stand up for veterans in California. Senator Janet Nguyen (R-Garden Grove), Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel), and Senator Jim Nielsen (R-Tehama) announced a package of legislative bills designed to assist and uplift the veteran community. Representatives from the Vietnam Veterans of America, Military Officers Association of America, California State Commanders Veterans Council, National Guard Association of California, and Women’s Veterans Alliance provided personal testimony on how the bills would support them.
Senate District 16 has five military installations, including Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow, Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, Edwards Air Force Base, and the Army’s Fort Irwin.
“Veterans have served our country courageously, honorably and with distinction. They’ve sacrificed greatly and have spent countless hours away from their families to protect us. These bills would assist the veterans who have served, and would demonstrate our gratitude and support, encouraging others who want to serve,” said Senator Fuller.
