Senator Fuller Responds to Proposal Mandating 100% of the State's Electricity be Generated from Renewable Sources

Today, Senator Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) released the following statement in response to the Senate Democrats introduction of Senate Bill 100.  SB 100 would mandate that 100 percent of California’s electricity be generated from renewable sources by 2045.

“The author of SB 100 is playing an expensive and dangerous game with the budgets of millions of Central Valley residents who rely on heating in the winter and cooling in the summer.  But the impact does not stop at utility costs; it will inevitably impact businesses, job growth, cost of goods and services, and even the education of our children.

“I am not opposed to the production of renewable energy when it makes economic sense and is affordable to everyday people.  However, blindly imposing these costs on every Californian without first understanding the impact it will have on their daily lives is alarming.”
