SACRAMENTO - Senate Republican Leader Jean Fuller (R-Bakersfield) issued the following statement in reaction to the fiscal outlook (link is external) from the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO):
“The report highlights uncertainty facing our state’s finances in the upcoming years, which underscores Senate Republicans call for a responsible state budget. More reckless spending sprees put our state on an unsustainable path when the next recession inevitably hits.
“It's imperative next year’s budget should not miss another critical opportunity to prioritize state spending. We need to focus on policies that encourage job growth, help make California more affordable, pay down our massive debt so the next generation isn’t further burdened, and deliver on our current commitments instead of creating expensive new government programs,” said Leader Fuller.
